40 Years of God's Faithfulness
From a small white chapel to our current home on Lakewood Road, God has been building His church in Waterbury, Connecticut.
"Hitherto hath the LORD helped us."
— 1 Samuel 7:12 (KJV)
A Journey of Faith
Every chapter of our history reflects God's providential hand guiding and growing His church.
The Beginning
Lighthouse Baptist Church was founded by Pastor Chris Ferris on May 5, 1985. This 125-year-old building on Meriden Rd was home to our church for 11 years, growing from just a handful to 75 members. During those years, 3 walls were knocked out to increase the size of the auditorium.

Growing Congregation
After outgrowing the old white chapel, the church moved across the street to the Grange Hall of Waterbury. Here the church grew to 125 members before merging with the Victory Independent Baptist Church of Watertown in 1998.

A Time of Transition
When the church lost its lease, they temporarily moved to the Victory building in Watertown while waiting for the building on Lakewood Rd to be given to them. The church spent 9 months in this building, packing out the auditorium every service.

A Permanent Home
In 1999, the building on Lakewood Rd was given to us. For many years this building served as a Health Club. We have seen our church grow to a high of around 170 and many new ministries have been established.

New Pastoral Leadership
Pastor Gil Tartaglino, who had previously served as youth pastor at Lighthouse for a year and a half, was called to become the Senior Pastor. Under his faithful, Bible-centered leadership, the church has continued to grow spiritually and reach the Waterbury community with the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

Youth Ministry Expansion
Pastor Gerald Hicks joined the staff as Youth Pastor, bringing energy and vision to the teen ministry. His dedication to discipling young people has strengthened the next generation of believers at Lighthouse.

Still Shining the Light
Today, Lighthouse Baptist Church continues its mission of preaching the King James Bible, winning souls to Christ, and serving families in Waterbury and beyond. With active ministries for all ages, support for over 25 missionary families worldwide, and a heart for the lost, we look forward with faith to see what God will do in the years ahead.

The Best Is Yet to Come
We believe God still has great plans for Lighthouse Baptist Church. Our vision remains unchanged: faithfully preach the Word, reach our community, and send the Gospel to the ends of the earth.
